#25: 'The weekend' by szaOkay, I have to admit that I went too long before hearing this song! I love the concept, it's an interesting idea to think of the perspective of the 'side chick'. The neo-R&B beat slays as well as SZA's vocals.

#10: 'mountaineers' by susanne sundfor featuring josh grantSeeing Susanne live in 2017 was a top moment for me, (she holds the #1 song 0f 2015, 'Kamikaze' and the #2 song of 2016 'Reincarnation') and her new album is rather peaceful and introspective on the world around us. This closing track, mixed with Josh Grant, enters a new beautiful territory for this Norwegian angel.

This lead single for ODESZA's third album, 'Line of Sight' elevated ODESZA's trademark styles and songs by structuring the song into pop standard. But don't be fooled, this song is too edgy and electronic to be heard on the radio! While the pitchy chorus may be hard to detect, it's message is important (And I don't learn, no I don't learn/ It'll all be fine this time).
In an interview with NPR, the duo shared this about the track: "We may feel like we don’t have control over a situation, whether it’s technology or government or growing up, but through unlikely friendships, we can better understand each other and bridge the gap. Ultimately, [“Line of Sight”] is about having to find your way in a scary world."

#2, "The MAn" by the killers
When I heard this song for the first time (tuning into a podcast of BBC Radio 1), I remember being blown away. This song took the Killers' 'Vegas' charm, it's catchy, sing-along (more like yell-along) choruses and took it to a funky (almost disco) place. The lyrics were filled with tongue and cheek, it was a groovy tune and I was ready for it to smash. And smash it did! It became their biggest hit since 2005's 'When We Were Young'.
The Killers are my #1 artist of the year, with their new album Wonderful Wonderful continuing to show their excellence, consistency and their status as a contemporary band. They're in a way, the U2 of our generation.

You caught me: this song actually came out in December 0f 2016. ALTHOUGH it was too new to put it on my best of 2016 list, and it wasn't until January that it reached my desk.
I fell in love with this song, which I've dubbed 'my song of Winter 2016'. I played this NON-STOP through January-March, and still play it today. It's a perfect example of the emotion and power of electronics, using M83's unique sound and Maps' ability to make music transcend the second dimensional plan. For Maps, this marks his second number one (Following his #1 in 2013 for 'A.M.A.'), and M83 follows through again after coming in at #6 with 'Solitude'.
