my Top ten florence and the Machine songs

So one thing to know about me is that I'm an absolute sucker for lists, top tens, you name it! This week I'm dishing out my Top Ten tracks from Florence and the Machine to prep for (RUMOR/SPOILER: their upcoming album 'High As Hope' to come this summer).

#10: drumming song

As in the name, the drums of this song are amazing. This track has been a slow grower which has eventually come into my top ten.

#9: blinding

One of my favorites since I've heard it, I love the Snow White fairytale twist with their spiritual spin.

#8: ship to wreck

A powerful bombastic track with an epic chorus and beautiful visuals. I'm a sucker for any visuals to do with water from this band!

#7: if only for a night

The opening track to Ceremonials drew me into the album, especially with the wails and cries that define this song as a standout.

#6: never let me go

I love the chanting of this song, which has slowly become one of my favorites. It's icy hollowness is soon coated with warmth from all direction, a hard style to pull off within music.

#5: cosmic love

A fan favorite, but notably the acoustic version is unbelievably breathtaking. The nature and spirituality come alive in this song.

#4: what the water gave me

A haunting track which lead as a beautiful prelude to their sophomore album, the poetic nature of the song pulls at my heartstrings. 

#3: rabbit heart (raise it Up)

The first song I heard from the band, as well as their most complicated and striking production within their discography. The Midas metaphor is simply one for the books!

#2: howl

A true forest experience, complete with howls with witches. One of the standout tracks from the band, a collection of their nature in one breath.

#1: queen of peace

This song is everything I love about this band, the orchestra, the timeless feeling of both new and old, the story and narrative, the production, an explosive chorus, pure emotion...it goes to show you that with each new album, this band has the possibility to top their previous efforts.
